The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has renewed its partnership with PLDT Inc. (PLDT), through its B2B arm, PLDT Enterprise, and VITRO Inc., the data center subsidiary of ePLDT, through a signing ceremony held at its head office in Pasay City, to improve GSIS’s disaster recovery and business continuity, helping ensure reliable service for its members and pensioners.

Under this deal, GSIS will further leverage VITRO Inc.’s colocation services and secure data center infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted operations even during natural calamities. Additionally, PLDT Enterprise provides network services and IPVPN backhaul to support infrastructure connectivity, ensuring that data travels the shortest and fastest route to its destination.

PLDT Enterprise’s partnerships align with parent company PLDT’s much broader goal of enabling the country’s digital transformation, offering solutions tailored to evolving business needs. VITRO Inc., on the other hand, is the Philippines’ leading and pioneering data center service provider, operating the largest network of carrier-neutral data centers in the Philippines in over two decades.

“This collaboration will enhance our disaster recovery capabilities and ensure that our services are available to our members and pensioners anytime, anywhere,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.

The project enables GSIS to support the Marcos administration’s Bagong Pilipinas strategy, promoting innovative solutions for national development.

“We are honored to be entrusted with the colocation service for the disaster recovery site of GSIS. Our aim is to ensure that in the event of calamities, GSIS can continue to uphold the welfare of government employees and their families, ensure timely delivery of social benefits, and foster financial security,” said Mitch Locsin, PLDT and Smart First Vice President and Head of Enterprise and International Core Business.

In partnering with GSIS for its disaster recovery project, PLDT Enterprise and VITRO Inc. reaffirm their dedication to supporting digital transformation and providing technology that enhance service efficiency of partners, ultimately benefiting millions of government employees, especially pensioners reliant on their retirement benefits for their well-being.

“A crucial part of digitalization is uptime. This is true not just for enterprises, but more so for government agencies serving Filipinos across the country. This, in fact, is the true value of this partnership between GSIS, VITRO, and PLDT Enterprise—our joint commitment to provide reliable and uninterrupted public service to the Filipino people,” said Viboy Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc.

Present during the signing ceremony aside from Veloso, Genuino, and Locsin were Acting Executive Vice President Juan Philip Evangelista, PLDT Enterprise Vice President and Head of Enterprise Revenue Group Ruby Montoya, and VITRO Inc. Chief Commercial Officer Gary Ignacio.

Earlier this month, GSIS also hired Sycip, Gorres, Velayo (SGV), and Ernst and Young (EY) to create a new plan for its IT infrastructure to improve capabilities and processes. Additionally, GSIS launched the GSIS Digital ID integrated into the GSIS Touch mobile app, enhancing service efficiency and security, reducing fraud, and improving access to services.
